Autechre - Tri Repetae
Hmmmmm this is puh-retty good. Nothing springs to mind to describe this sound except some fairly dumb word association, like, geometrical shapes, depth-of-field, dimensions, black-holes, Tom Briglia, time-lapse, pitch-bend, synth-fills-space, drum-spits-sparks, weird-textures-warp, etc. Ominous, but neutral. Also: v. good for listening to late at night to synchronise your procrastinating activites with.
Try it, then buy it.
Boards of Canada next, then some less-well-known stuff.

Brian Eno - Here Come The Warm Jets
I was reading a fan review on RYM of Eno's 'Here Come The Warm Jets' (which I have been spinning religiously) which described it simply as "Eno's experimental glam paradise." It's a perfect description - obviously in the minimal sense - of the album. Like the cover, the album feels like some weird exotic room where everything is fancy, flamboyant and fun to play with. It has some of the coolest guitar sounds I have ever heard, the lyrics are genius and the delivery of both is playful and hilarious. If for some reason you have not heard this, you "should." It STILL sounds light-years ahead of a lot of new stuff and begs for the 'repeat' function. The last song is a blazing instrumental zizzer of optimism and forward-going-ness. Zizzzzz.
